Mesotherapy

what is mesotherapy

The progression of time, environmental factors, stress, insomnia, and genetic predispositions directly affect our skin—the largest organ of our body—and our hair. The cosmetic creams or serums we use daily are insufficient to penetrate the skin barrier (epidermis) and reach the deeper layers. This is exactly where Mesotherapy, one of the most powerful non-surgical repair methods in medicine and aesthetics, comes into play.

First developed in 1952 by French doctor Michel Pistor, Mesotherapy is the process of injecting building blocks such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid—which the skin and hair follicles desperately need—directly into the middle layer of the skin (mesoderm) using micro-needles. The fundamental philosophy of mesotherapy is to deliver the “right medicine, in the right amount, directly to the target.” Thanks to the personalized mesotherapy cocktails applied in our clinic, cellular renewal is triggered, collagen production increases, and the tissues repair themselves, achieving a natural, radiant, and youthful appearance.

In Which Areas and for Which Problems is Mesotherapy Applied?

With its wide range of applications, mesotherapy is considered the “Swiss Army Knife” of aesthetic dermatology. It provides excellent results in three main categories using special formulas prepared according to the individual’s needs:

1. Facial Mesotherapy (Mesolifting / Youth Vaccine)

It is applied to stop and reverse the signs of aging on the face, neck, décolletage, and the back of the hands.

  • Skin Revitalization: Instantly provides intense moisture and a radiant glow to dull, dehydrated, and tired-looking skin.
  • Wrinkle Treatment: Helps smooth out fine lines and increases skin elasticity.
  • Pigmentation (Spot) Treatment: Treats color inequalities such as sun spots, age spots, and melasma (pregnancy mask) using special agents that suppress melanin production.
  • Acne Scars and Pore Tightening: Initiates the repair process under the skin to narrow enlarged pores and lighten the appearance of acne scars.

2. Hair Mesotherapy

It is a gold-standard treatment for stopping hair loss (alopecia) seen in both men and women and improving hair quality.

  • Stimulates dormant hair follicles by nourishing them directly.
  • Thickens hair strands, prevents breakage, and adds volume to the hair.
  • It is frequently applied as a supportive treatment before and after Hair Transplant operations to maximize the survival and holding rate of the transplanted grafts.

3. Body and Cellulite Mesotherapy

  • Cellulite Treatment: Smooths the orange-peel appearance by injecting enzymes that break down degraded fat tissues and fibrotic bands under the skin, accelerating blood circulation.
  • Targeted Fat Reduction (Lipolysis): Used to dissolve small, diet- and exercise-resistant fat deposits (double chin, abdomen, hips).

Step-by-Step Mesotherapy Application Process

Mesotherapy is a highly comfortable and brief medical aesthetic procedure that does not interrupt your daily life.

1. Analysis and Cocktail Preparation: Our specialist physician analyzes the needs of your skin or scalp. The most suitable combination of vitamins, amino acids, and enzymes (cocktail) for your age, skin type, and specific complaint is prepared exclusively for you.

2. Local Anesthesia: Local anesthetic (numbing) creams are applied to the procedure area to reduce the sensation of the micro-needles to zero, and we wait for 15-20 minutes.

3. Micro-Injection Phase: Using very fine, single-use mesotherapy needles or special “mesotherapy guns,” the prepared formula is injected into the middle layer of the skin at millimetric intervals. Depending on the size of the area, the session takes an average of 15-30 minutes.

4. Post-Procedure: It is normal to have slight redness or tiny mosquito bite-like bumps at the injection sites; this completely passes within a few hours. The patient can immediately return to work and social life. It is sufficient to avoid wearing makeup, washing with excessively hot water, and engaging in heavy sports on the day of the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

You can quickly access answers to the most common questions and find detailed information about the treatment process here.

Thanks to the highly effective topical anesthetic creams applied before the procedure and the use of needles even thinner than a strand of hair (30-32 G), the pain felt is virtually non-existent. Most of our patients describe the procedure merely as a slight “tingling” or “touching” sensation.

Mesotherapy is a “course” treatment. After the first session, you will feel an increase in brightness and moisture in your skin, but the permanent effects such as true cellular renewal, lightening of spots, or stopping of hair loss generally become evident after the 2nd or 3rd session.

The number of sessions varies according to the person’s age, the depth of the problem, and the application area (face, hair, body). Generally, 4 to 6 sessions are recommended at 1-2 week intervals for facial rejuvenation, and 6 to 8 sessions for hair loss treatments. Once the initial course is completed, “maintenance sessions” performed every 3-6 months prolong the permanence of the achieved results.

Since mesotherapy is performed with reliable, FDA-approved substances that have been used in medicine for many years, it has no systemic side effects. Temporary and very mild redness, and rarely minor bruising, may be seen in the procedure area solely due to needle entries. These disappear on their own within a few days. As a precaution, it is not applied to pregnant women, nursing mothers, and active patients undergoing cancer treatment.
